Robert Rueter Obituary

Born in Dover, NJ, Robert lived in both Dover and Rockaway throughout his life. He proudly served as a Senior Probation Officer with the State of New Jersey for 30 and a half years, retiring in 2020. He loved his work and found great fulfillment in helping people get a second chance and better their lives.
Robert was an avid collector of just about everything and a true car enthusiast. A loyal NJ Devils fan, he had a particular fondness for Looney Tunes-especially his favorite character, Yosemite Sam, of whom he was undoubtedly the number one fan. He was also an animal lover who cherished all his dogs over the years.
Robert had a heart too big for this world, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. How do you sum up a lifetime of greatness in a few sentences? It's simply impossible. As his beloved Yosemite Sam would say, "That's All Folks."
He was predeceased by his mother, Jean Rueter, in April of this year, his father, Robert E. Rueter in 2017 and his brother, John Rueter in 2024.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Maria Valdivia, her children: Angelica Acevedo and Veronica Acevedo, and their grandchildren: Alissandra, Annalisia, Anthony and Gianna; his two siblings, Timothy Rueter and Cynthia Rueter; his nephews: Robert T. (Melanie) Rueter, James A. (Samantha) Rueter, Timothy J. Rueter and Dr. Brian Rueter; and his great-nephews: Bennett Rueter, Nathan Rueter and Mason Rueter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway, NJ 07866. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, 10:30 AM at the funeral home; doors will open at 10:00AM. Interment/Entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
