Vincent R. Aperawic

N.Y. Times Manager, Business Owner, Air Force and Army National Guard Veteran.

Vincent R. Aperawic (Vince), age 89 of Parsippany, N.J. died on September 28, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Vince was born on Dec. 15, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Peter J. and Victoria (Scaba) Aperawic.

He was employed by the N.Y. Times following his graduation from the N.Y. High School of Printing in 1953. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and served until 1958. He returned to work at the N.Y. Times and rose to managerial positions in the customer service, credit and collection departments, including Director of International Credit.

He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy A. McIntyre on Oct. 26,1957 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Brooklyn, N.Y.

Vince graduated from St. Francis College (Brooklyn) in 1972 with a B.B.A. degree in Business Management and a minor in Education.

In 1979, he co-founded Aperawic & Jacobs, Inc. collection agency and its divisions, National Vendor Recovery Service, and Doctors' Receivables, with his longtime friend and business associate at the NY Times, the late Harris Jacobs.

He joined the NJ Army National Guard in 1983 at the age of 47 and served in the 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery in Morristown, NJ and later in the 250th Signal Battalion in Westfield, NJ where he retired in 1999 at the age of 63 as a Sergeant First Class. In later years, he joined the Northern Chapter 112th Field Artillery Association and served as its Commander for 5 years.

Vince was a member of the Golden Age Club of Saint Peter's and served as President for four years. He also was a member of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Planning Board for seven years.

Vince is predeceased by his best friend and beloved wife Dorothy of 67 years. He is survived by his loving daughters: Victoria (Charles), Elizabeth, Patricia and Christine (Eric). He is also survived by his five grandchildren: U.S. Army Major Travis Mount (Seth), Brittany (Eric), Alexa, Olivia, US Army Lieutenant Michael Passin and three great grandsons. He is predeceased by his brother Peter Aperawic (Terry). He is survived by his brother Robert Aperawic (Valerie), brother-in-law George McIntyre. He is predeceased by his niece Theresa and survived by nephew Michael Murphy. Other nieces and nephews include Veronica, Barbara, Tara and Robert.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ann R.C. Church on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warriors.
