It is with both sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Alex Wooten, age 88, on July 20, 2025. Born on November 13, 1936, in Hima, Kentucky, Alex lived a life full of adventure, love, and laughter. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Goldie Wooten, and a proud father to his children, Tony (Monica Lewis) Wooten and Sherry (Michael) Mills. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Ashley, Coty, Shyanne, Hunter, and Paige, along with his grandson Billy Neel. He also leaves his youngest brother Pearl (Cheryl) Wooton.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lucinda Wooten, his siblings, Arnold Wooton, Jim Wooten and Jane Harris.

A proud veteran of the United States Military, serving in both the Army and Navy.
Alex's life was marked by his passion for trucking and motorcycles. He was well-known in the logistics industry, spending over 55 years as a truck driver for Budig Trucking, Helms Express, PIE, Ryder, Leshner Mills, and Loud & Clear Trucking, where he traveled the open roads, meeting a myriad of celebrities along the way. During their adventurous travels, Goldie would get excited and point out flowers on the side of the road. With shovel in her hand, Goldie would jump out and add to her garden collection. They went through a lot of breaks on that trip!

In his younger years, Alex enjoyed fishing and playing softball for his church team, further showcasing his love for family and community. His time working with the Cotton Mill store led him on adventures throughout California, where he humorously noted that he visited every prison in the state without ever being an inmate!

Affectionately dubbed "Blackie" from his days working in the coal mines of Clay County, Alex was a man of many stories and experiences, always ready to share a laugh and a kind word. His commitment to family and faith shone brightly, making every moment spent with him a treasured memory.

We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Alex's remarkable life. There will be a Visitation at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 AM. A Graveside Service immediately follows in the Garden of Patriotism where he will be laid to rest.

A reception will follow at Lakeridge Conference Hall, 7118 Pippin Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45239. Let us gather together to honor a life well-lived and the love he brought into our lives. Alex Wooten, you will be missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone you touched.
