born on August 11, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A remarkable individual, Alexa was not only known for her illustrious career but also for her deep connections with those around her.
Throughout her life, Alexa made a significant impact as an Instructor at the Barbizon Modeling School and as a freelance model, where she gained notable recognition as a Playboy Bunny at the Playboy Club in Boston. Her passion for fashion and beauty left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Alexa had a profound love for writing and poetry, culminating in the authorship of her cherished book, “Joey.” An avid reader, she often found joy in the pages of her favorite novels and the challenge of crossword puzzles, activities that engaged her creative spirit and intellect.
Alexa is survived by her adoring family, Lorraine Yanku (Bob) of North Kingstown, Catalina Lupo (the late Patrick Lupo) of Narragansett, Thomas Diaz (Mary Williams) of Wakefield, Dominga Valerie Barnes (Bruce) of Gerrardstown, WV and Susan Mills of Wakefield. Alexa was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Her faithful pup, Isadora, also held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis A. Scalise, and leaves behind the memories of her late father, Joseph J. Helverson, her mother, Anna (Koehler) Gorgus, and her sister, Florence Daley.
