Alexander Joseph Corona
"Alex" "AJ"
West Allis
AJ passed away on Thursday, November 11th, 2021, on his 38th birthday, after a long, hard fought battle with inherited genetic cancers.
AJ was the loving son of Cindy Kasza Corona Long (Bob Long) and the late Joe Corona.
Beloved grandson of the late John & Evelyn Kasza and the late Wes & Marion Stengel, all from West Allis.
Loved and missed by aunts and uncles--Linda & Dave Boyer of Michigan, Donna Kasza & Neil Hansen of Arizona and Geoff & Gayle Heinrich of Elm Grove, plus cousins--Nate & Abby Boyer of Michigan, along with their son, Zavier, Deborah Hintz and Patty Robison, both of Milwaukee.
Also survived by special cousins Tina (Lee) Dayne and Kathy (Al) Acker, Jennifer, Andrea, Laura, and David.
Also survived by the wonderful Stengel Family--aunts, uncles, cousins, but especially 2nd parents, Nancy & Gregg (Old Guy) and AJ's "brother" and "sisters"-- Jared & Jennette plus their 3 children, Shelly & Adam plus their daughters, and Shaina & Adam (Wolfie) plus their son.
AJ was a born athlete, excelling in all major sports. His first love was soccer, kicking the soccer ball around his Grandma Kasza's backyard with her since he was two years old. Through the years, AJ traveled with Select Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball teams, competing in many successful tournaments and competitions.
While at West Allis Central High School, AJ would go on to "Letter", in soccer, basketball and football, making the Varsity teams for soccer as a Freshman and basketball team as a Sophomore. He also played Varsity Soccer and kicked for Varsity Football at the same time his Junior and Senior years. He would become known for his long kicks, 3-point shots and his leadership. One game, AJ got to show off his strong leg by making a 58 yard field goal, a state record at that time. The trophy for that feat can still be seen in the Trophy Case at West Allis Central. He was also recognized by The West Allis Star and The Milwaukee Journal as the "Player of the Week" and "All State Teams" for kicking and punting. AJ would further his football career kicking for Carthage College.
Those lucky enough to know AJ knew him as kind, giving and loving with an infectious smile and a deep fighting spirit. Although he left us, a part of him remains in everyone he leaves behind. We were blessed to have him with us, no matter how short that time was.
A special, loving thank you to AJ's "brothers"--Jared Stengel and Mike Gardner for their love and support over AJ's lifetime, but especially during his final journey. No words can ever express the gratitude we have for these two young men.
Thanks to the Sherman Cancer Care Staff at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital and VITAS Hospice/West Allis for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Fuiks (Theresa), Dr. Kinney, Dr. Case and Dr. Patel.
A Celebration of AJ's Life will be held June 22nd, 2022, from 4PM--7PM at Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners. Casual dress - wear your "Corona" gear, if you have it.
Due to the uptick of COVID and family health concerns, masks will be required.
