Alexander Christian Olive died in his sleep on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the young age of 31. He was born a miracle on September 16, 1992, at Tacoma General Hospital in Washington State by surviving a major health scare in the womb as a mass was formed on his lungs and pushed his heart to the center of his chest. His mother prayed constantly and insists holy oil from Frère André at Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal, Canada saved his life the first time.
He graduated from Decatur High School in Federal Way, WA, and attended Washington State and Western Washington Universities. He was a machinist at American Structures and Design in Sumner, WA and enjoyed teaching his skills to fellow employees and high school interns.
As a young boy, he excelled at baseball and although he earned the nickname 'Slick' from his fielding prowess, he was 'cool as ice' on the pitching mound often coming into the game with runners on base and throwing nothing but strikes to get his team out of a jam.
As an adult, he was a true Renaissance man with an old soul possessing a variety of talents unmatched by his peers. He was an avid golfer of both the traditional club method along with the Disc (Frisbee) method enjoying many rounds with friends on the links or traversing through the woods of nearby parks.
He preferred to drive a manual stick shift instead of a boring automatic transmission, as he felt more at one with the vehicle. He also drove a Ferrari 430 Scuderia along winding, country roads while on vacation in Italy after his high school graduation.
He loved music while becoming skilled at playing both bass and electric guitar, often performing songs from his parent's classic rock era. Many times, his Mother would turn to him with surprise saying, "You know THIS song?!" He also played more eclectic numbers from obscure bands exposed to him by his Uncle Mark.
He was a proud member of the Tacoma Sportsman's Club and enjoyed target shooting with his hand-built AR-15 style rifle and World War II era Enfield bolt action rifle along with other smaller caliber pistols. He learned to reload his own ammunition while constantly adjusting the powder types, grain sizes and shell preparation while meticulously taking notes of velocity and accuracy at the gun range with his chronograph.
He became an accomplished connoisseur of expertly preparing a variety of meats on the BBQ grill, while insisting on using charcoal briquettes and manually monitoring the cooking temperature instead of fancy pellet stoves with controlled heat sources. He watched countless hours of YouTube videos featuring French Chef Jean-Pierre and quickly replicated many delicious meals to the delight of all his family and friends.
He preferred to complete his evening meal with a fine single malt Scotch. He definitely knew the difference between the light, sweet and gentle tasting Lowland versus the smoky, peaty and spicy notes of the Highlands. In his mind, the stinkier the better, as Glenlivet from Speyside and Laphroaig from Islay were some of his favorites.
He was a kind, honest man with a pure heart full of humor and laughter which he shared with a great group of dedicated friends. He never acted in a hurtful way or said an unkind word about anyone and would vehemently defend their honor if anyone dared to say something mean about them. His legacy is defined by the complete and utter joy he brought to everyone he touched. The world has lost the best of all of us.
He is survived by his Mother, Carol Uzyak-Olive, father Christian Olive, Step-Mother Ann-Marie Olive, Step-Father-to-be Gary Perrotte, big sister Victoria Olive, Brother-in-law-to-be Corey Thompson, Step-Sister Austin Wilkerson and adoptive little sister Alyssia Howard.
He will truly be missed by all and a Celebration of Life Service is being planned with more details to follow at a later date.
Sincerely and lovingly,
Christian Olive

Sad to hear the news of Alex. I will be praying for you all through your grief. I got to work with Alex for a short amount of time, but I had so so many great memories from this guy. He was one of the smartest dudes I ever met. It seemed like he knew something about everything and we along with a bunch of other guys at AS&D shared a common interest in things like guns, golf and going out for some beeeers. Loved going out with him, making memories, and hearing him tell some amazing stories. Got so many different things that remind me of Alex from playing video games with him to quoting movies and Key and Peele skits. He will be missed by everyone at that place because I know he was the most genuine guy ever and was a friend to all. RIP Alex you will be missed by many my brotha! <3

Carol, Chris, and Tori,
When I heard the news today, I was simply devastated. I only knew Alex from his dental appointments, but he was literally ONE OF MY FAVORITE patients!!! He and I had SOOOOO many good talks. I remember telling Chris, often, what an amazing son and young man he was! Our conversations would last well past his appointment time in the reception area. The world has lost a shining light, but heaven has gained someone remarkable! I am keeping you all in my prayers!!
All my love,
Cristi (Avalon Family Dentistry)

I´m praying for you and your family through this tough time. Alex was an amazing person and a great friend. He loved spreading his knowledge and teaching us about Cooking, Golfing, Cars, and Music. Having Alex as a friend was one of Gods many blessings and I can easily say that it made us all better people.
