Alexander “Alex” Reid, beloved father, partner, and brother, passed away surrounded by love on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Cape Coral, Florida, at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Born on March 5, 1946, near Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, Alex carried with him a deep pride in his roots and a quiet strength that shaped the lives of those around him.

A gifted engineer and natural problem-solver, Alex built a distinguished career in the aerospace industry. He worked as an aircraft engineer with Rolls-Royce in Bristol, England, and later brought his expertise to General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio. He approached his work with dedication, precision, and a sharp mind, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues across the globe.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Emma (Reid) Gibbs and her husband Jeremy Gibbs, and Sarah Reid and her partner Joe Slusser; his devoted partner, Jean (Groesch) Nofsinger; his cherished sister, Margaret (Reid) Amos, and her husband Keith Amos; his sister-in-law, Janette (Loughridge) Reid; his brother-in-law, Richard Head; and nine adored grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews across the UK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Michele (Head) Reid; his brother, John Reid; his mother, Annie Marie (Thompson) Reid; and his father, James Reid.

Alex’s later years were filled with the things he loved most: boating, fishing, traveling, and he was never too busy to have a pint with a friend. He was a man of deep loyalty and strong character, known for his quiet wisdom, sharp wit, and enduring love for his family.

He will be remembered for the countless ways he enriched the lives of those who knew him and the lasting legacy of strength, humor, and kindness he leaves behind.

Celebrations of Alex’s life will be held in both Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cape Coral, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
