Kitty Marie Reid

Kitty Marie Reid, 67, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:09 am March 18, 2026 with her family by her side. She was born September 20, 1958 in Belvedere, Illinois to the late Willie and Virginia Mae (Gossage) Pitman, Jr. After the early passing of Kitty's mother, Willie married Vivian (Vaughn) Pitman. She raised Kitty and loved her dearly as her own.

Kitty is survived by her son, Jessie Pitman and Danyel Davis and their children, Logan, Ryleighanna, Hunter, Willie, and Geneva; daughters, Angela Reid and her daughter, Isabella and Wanda VanGilder and her children, Alexander and Joshua; siblings, Nancy Goodall, Alan Jolly, Cheryl Richardson, Linda Warren, and Paula Benthall; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kitty was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Jolly; and two younger brothers.

Kitty became at Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 1982. She dedicated her life to caring for others. Kitty worked in many health care facilities in Mount Vernon, such as Nature Trail Health Care Center, GreenTree, Mount Vernon Countryside Manor, and Hickory Grove Nursing Home. She was loved and adored by many. Kitty will be remembered for her kind, gentle heart, and dedication to serving those around her. She was a beloved mother, treasured grandmother, dear sister, and friend to many.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 6:30 pm with Chaplain David Mishler officiating. Memorials may be made in Kitty's honor to the family, in care of Jessie Pitman.
