Alexander Graham Viola, 87 of Oakhurst, New Jersey.

Alex passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and devoted friend lived a fulfilling life full of adventure. He was born October 19,1938 in New York, NY.

He is survived by his children, Matthew Viola and his wife Lorraine of West Milford, NJ, Jeannette Viola and Greg Decos of Oakhurst, NJ, Julie Rizzuto and her husband Frank of Colts Neck, NJ; grandchildren, Kristin Viola (Jon Bosma), Steven Viola (Vicki Crowley), AJ Viola, Marisa Hembling, Bella Rizzuto, Frankie Rizzuto, and Vivien Rizzuto; great-grandchildren, Grayson Bosma, and Ella Bosma; and his nieces and nephews, Bob, Jayne, Carl, Jimmy, Angela and John; and extended family. He is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Ella Jeannette(Dufour), and joins his parents, Clement and Johanna (Lamborizio) Viola, his sisters, Margaret Fitzgerald, Joan Downs, his brother, Clement Viola Jr., and long time friends, Roger Wilson and Don Maxwell.

Alex spent his childhood in the Bronx, New York where he created many memories with his friends Johnny, Richie, Walter (Junie), Jerry (the Bird), and lifelong best friend Mike Weiss. Alex will be remembered for his loyalty to his country and dedication to his career. He joined the Air Force at age 17 and served from 1956-1960 as a radar technician. He then transitioned to working for Republic Aviation and eventually landed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Throughout his career he received numerous awards and accolades including the Honorable Order of St. Barbara from the US Army Field Artillery. He continued his 30+ years of civilian service for the US Army until his retirement as a Logistics Management Specialist. After his first retirement, he started his own company, Enlogex, Inc where he continued to support the Armed Forces until the closure of Ft. Monmouth.

Alex will be cherished for his wonderful sense of humor, unwavering love of family and fondness for a good party, whether it be a birthday, wedding or family reunion. He always enjoyed engaging with new people and considered everyone he met a friend. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 and 11-1 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. A Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday with entombment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.

I loved the times our families spent together. Listening to the stories and jokes our parents told. It's sad that it had to end. I will always remember those days with fondness and love. Condolences to all of you.
