Born of humble beginnings to two Detroit factory workers, Al rose to be a premiere illustrator for the Detroit Automotive Advertising industry and a prolific fine artist
After graduating from Pershing High School, Al served his country in the United States Army and attended what is now the Center for Creative Studies after turning down a scholarship to Wayne State for Retail Merchandising. He started his career as a Draftsman/Penciler for New Center Studios in downtown Detroit. His impeccable artistic discipline and unmatched eye for detail garnered the attention from the East Coast and was hired as an illustrator for automotive art masters: Art Fitzpatrick & Van Kaufman. In the early-90's, Al establish AW Graphics, Inc. with his wife Cathy. Together they expanded his talent for commercial art illustration across many industries.
Al was a passionate skier where he took his skill for detail to one of the most beautiful parallel skier on the slopes. A passion so strong it kept him on the slopes to the age of 80 – and still looked good doing it.
Al was a terrific human being with an unwavering sense of humor. Family members and friends of Al could always count on him to lighten up or bring laughter to any situation with a comedic one-liner. His humble demeanor, empathy for others and unconditional love for his family will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad´s passing.
I did not get to know your mom and dad until after we were all retired, but Bruce and I spent many fun filled times together in a few short years. Your parents were so in love. They were both kind and giving people. We "invented" the "Soup Party". Each winter your mom and I would cook up a delicious pot of soup while up in Benzonia. That is when I got her recipe for Lasagna Soup which I have until this day. Your dad had such a keen sense of humor, making us laugh at the simplest things. He truly saw life through rose colored glasses. However, he lost that sparkle in his eye when your mom passed away.
Both your mom and dad are missed more than I can say and I thank God that I was given the privilege of calling them my friends.
