Alexandra Christodoulias Khalaf, 57, passed away peacefully in her home on December 9th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Family, religion, and her Greek heritage were the foundation of Alexandra's life. As a loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother Alexandra's nurturing spirit created a haven of love and support for her family.

From a young age, Alexandra worked countless hours alongside her parents and brother in the family restaurants. Alexandra also found her passion for education early in her life. This led her to attend Old Dominion University where she earned a Masters degree in Education.

Passionate about education, Alexandra led a fulfilling career as a teacher for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Her impact extended beyond the classroom. She spent her summers teaching and volunteering for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in search of ways to improve water quality and bolster the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Alexandra found her greatest joy in life when she became a mother to her daughter, Nadia.

Alexandra is survived by her devoted parents George and Ourania, her husband Tony, daughter Nadia, son-in-law John, her brother Peri and his wife Danielle, and her beloved chihuahua Elle.

The Trisagion and Funeral service will both be held on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 621 First Colonial Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.The Trisagion service will begin at 9:00 a.m., immediately followed by the Funeral service at 9;30AM a.m. Interment will take place following the funeral services at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Makaria luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Alexandra's memory.

I just heard about Alex's death. I worked with her on many school projects, including Growing Wetlands in the Classroom when I worked with Lynnhaven River NOW. She was such an amazing teacher. Her passion for her students and for the environment was evident in all that she did. She was my friend and colleague and I will miss her. Prayers for you all as go forward through this time of reflection and grief.

Alexandra

They say that a teacher never dies until the last student dies
So Alexandra is with us today
She is also in her daughter´s heart
And in the family DNA
She affected so many lives
Some who would never know
But goodness lasts forever
From heaven to down below
Nadia she was at your wedding
Also when you took your first step
And when you have her grandchildren
You will know that she never left
Children never know
How their parents treasure them so
Busy lives make time fly by
And suddenly its our time to go
But a life lived well
What else could one do
Alexandra came, saw, and conquered
She left the rest up to you
She already misses you guys

She was my teacher, probably the first to truly inspire me. She taught me that it was okay to be inquisitive and to always strive high. I can never thank her enough for the things I've accomplished because of the lessons i learned from her
