Obituary of Alexina C. Orcher
Alexina C. Orcher. Age 88. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing on September 26, 2024.
Alexina was born on November 21, 1935, Mabou, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada to Duncan and Jane MacDonald. In her teens, the family moved to Detroit, where she attended and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit, Michigan. The oldest of 10 children, she was her siblings' caretaker and nurturer, which led her to choose a career in nursing at Providence Hospital.
Alexina is survived by her husband and best friend of 41 years, Ronald Orcher. Besides spending time with family and friends, she and Ronald extensively traveled on their boat and RV throughout most of the country. As it became more difficult to travel, together they explored so many of the places and events in Detroit.
After graduating from nursing school, she married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Koniarz, until his death in 1973. Together they raised four children, David (Jill), Karen (Ray), Bryan (Deanne), and Paul (Michele).
Alexina is also survived by her stepchildren, Dawn (Tony), Deanne (Bryan), Danielle, Tim (Roxane), and Delaine (Steven). Her 9 siblings, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 5 God children, and many nieces and nephews.
Alexina was faithful to our Lord and tried to live by His example until the end. In spite of a decline in her health, she maintained her strength, grace, compassion, kindness, and humor. She will be missed by her family and friends more than words can say.
