Alexis Emmanuel Griffith, of Frederiksted, St. Croix, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by his children and loved ones in The Bronx. Alexis was a man of deep love for his family and a legacy of kindness that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Dennery and Alexander Griffith, and his siblings: Virginia Andrews, Dolores Griffith, Pearline Griffith, Ivan McIntosh, Leander McIntosh, Clement Griffith, and Joseph Griffith.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted sisters: Elvina McIntosh, Violet Archibald, Eleanor Parris, Joyce Prescott, and Ada Griffith; his brothers: Calvin Griffith, Arthur Dennery, Anselmo Archibald, Wendell Archibald, Melvin Griffith, and Joel Griffith. Alexis was a proud father to his daughters: Chane Judy Griffith, Julissa Maria Griffith-Graham, Chantel Alexandria Griffith-Mosley, Tiesha Griffith, and his only son, Alexis Emmanuel Griffith Jr.
He adored his grandchildren: Amiyah Imani Fraser, Carter Jeramiyah Fraser, Justice Alexander Graham, Jackson Asher Headley, Jillian Alexis Headley, Latoria Mitchell, Keyaira Johnson, Tyresa Husbands, Justin Husbands, Brandon Burson, Tymaurian Bozeman, and Tygieria and Tieliah Serenity, and was blessed with great-grandchildren: Mehkel Adams, Gabrielle Johnson, Deion Mitchell, Jazlyn Johnson, Carleigh Browne, Jaylen Mitchell, Corey Husbands, Jacob Lewis, Alexia Mitchell, and Autumn Husbands.
Alexis was cherished by many nieces and nephews, including: Kimberly Portee, Leandra, Felicia, Leana, Lia McIntosh, Angela, Elvina (Venita), Shavonne, Uralis, Anniscia, Cheyenne, Teana, Nikkidah, Geraldine, Claudette, Norma, Laverne, Natasha, Joy, Annette, Deseree, Ayanna, Aisha, Brandi, Patisha, Keysha, Beverly, Michelle, Lisa, Zabra, Jamila, Wanda, Afiya, Kayla, Joletta, and Joleen; nephews: Romeo, Burgantine, Bob, Orville, Earl, Patrick, Ephraim, Clement Jr., Jaime, Ali, Shelly, Ivan, Rodney, Leander Jr., Michael, Dexter, Joseph, Kevin, Henry, Okpara, Jeffrey, Dwayne, Carl, Raymond, Alexander, Kelvin, Gary, James, Logan, Edison and a host of many others.
He will be remembered fondly by his sons-in-law, Jamel Graham and Jamar Mosley, and sisters-in-law: Joan Dennery, Victoria Griffith, and Shirley McIntosh, along with his goddaughter, Yanitza Nina.
Alexis was a friend to all and a pillar in his community. His passing is mourned deeply by his special friends and family: Yudit Roy and family, Fr. Nelson Bellizario, the McIntosh family, Samuels, and Andrews families, the extended Griffith family, and countless others whose lives he touched.
His legacy is one of love, strength, and a deep sense of family-qualities that will forever live on through the stories and memories of those who knew and loved him.
