Lois Ann Griffith

Lois Griffith, age 87, of Bethel Park, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

She was born on May 8, 1938, in Mount Oliver, a daughter of the late Norbert M. and Maria (McCann) Detig.

Lois graduated from Baldwin/Whitehall High School in 1956. She then went to Carlow College to be a teacher. During her teaching career, she earned high accolades from her peers and students.

She married Daniel Suchy on July 7, 1962, and together they had three wonderful children.

During her lifetime, she was a Home Economics teacher, owned her own pizza shop, retired as a bank teller, worked at Kohl's and even sewed for a living.

Lois had many hobbies which included tennis, bowling, and playing piano but sewing was her real passion. She made prom dresses, crocheted prayer shawls, sewed dolls for women who lost their babies, and even made masks during the Covid pandemic.

Lois was also the president of her Coterie and a Co-Founding member of St Gregory's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Suchy and David Suchy both of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Laura (John) Burkhart of Sewickley, PA; a grandson, Jonathan Burkhart of Sewickley, PA; and a niece and nephew, Kimberly Gardner of Sewickley, PA, and Doug Detig of Venetia, PA.

Deceased is her sister, Arlene Detig, and her brother, Norbert T. Detig.

Family and friends are welcome at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. where a Panachida Service will be held on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church with Fr. Val officiating. Entombment will follow immediately at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. All are invited to attend a luncheon from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at Houlihan's in Mt. Lebanon at the Galleria.
