Alf T. "Al" Hansen, 82, passed away on March 14, 2025.
He was a devoted husband to Sophia, his wife of 57 years, an adoring father to his daughters, Amy (Israel Soong) and Melissa (Robert Murren), and the world's best "PopPop" to his five cherished grandsons-Caleb, Gabriel, Tyler, Jacob, and Eli. He was also a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews and a trusted and loved friend to many. His kindness, wisdom, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born in Arendal, Norway, Al moved to America when he was 10 years old. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before building a successful career as a businessman in telecommunications. After retiring in 2001, he remained active and engaged, serving on both the POA and the board of Wachesaw Golf Club. He was an avid golfer who could always be counted on to be on the course on Tuesdays and Fridays with the guys and for couples golf on the weekends. He also had a deep love of travel and embraced every adventure with enthusiasm.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Arnfin and Olga Hansen, his beloved sister, Bodil Kristin, and his son-in-law, Nick Keefe.
A celebration of Al's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity Al deeply cared about.
