Alfred Clements

Alfred Eugene Clements, aged 64, of Des Moines, Iowa, softly departed from this world on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love he nurtured throughout his life. A visitation to honor his memory will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Christ Apostolic Temple in Des Moines. His Homegoing Celebration will commence immediately thereafter at 12:00 p.m., hosted by Bishop Dwight Reed with eulogy by Pastor Leslie Buchanan. Following his service there will be a heartfelt burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Born on February 20, 1961, in Des Moines to John and Ella Mae (Holder) Clements, Alfred's journey began. He flourished in this community and proudly graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1980. Embarking on a fulfilling career, he started as a dietary Chef at Iowa Methodist Hospital, a place that allowed him to touch lives with his kindness. Alongside his professional endeavors, Alfred found love twice, marrying Dorine Kay Crawford and later, Reta Faye Leachnan, creating a family filled with joy and laughter.

Alfred was a cherished member of Christ Apostolic Temple, where the sound of his voice graced the choir, embodying his faith and love for music. He cherished every moment spent with family, showcasing his passion for life in many ways. Whether it was strumming his guitar, playing the violin, or feeling the groove of funk music-especially George Clinton-Alfred brought rhythm and harmony into the lives of those around him. He delighted in being the DJ for unforgettable events, teaching his family to ride bikes, enjoying the calmness of fishing, or whipping up meals to spoil his loved ones. His playful spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, remembered fondly by his children Shane (Toneisha) Clements, Kayla (Quenterius) Crowley, Laray Leachman, John Galbreath, and LaTasha Leachman. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Aries (Joshua), Colton, Detric, Moonie, and Junie; his siblings Sheila Holder, Sherry Buchanan, Dwight Holder, Mark (Kimberley) Holder, Georgianna Holder-White, and Herbert Thomas; along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and esteemed friends.

Alfred is preceded in death by his devoted parents, step-daughter Celeste Leachman, and cherished siblings Opal Turner and Mary Holder, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
