Alfred Joseph D'Ambrosio (Al) 82 years old of Ocala, Florida died suddenly on Wednesday, November 7th, 2024, while in the hospital. He was born on June 2, 1942, in Queens, New York to Fred and Mary Theresa D'Ambrosio. He leaves behind a sister, MaryGrace Moyer (Jim) of Ocala and brother, Joseph D'Ambrosio (Susan) of Sarasota and several nieces and nephews and their families, and cousins. Al was never married and spent a major portion of his life working as an automobile mechanic. He was most proud of the volunteer work he did beginning in 1999 for Munroe Foundation where he was given the Armond and Shirley Lovell Award in 2001 for outstanding service to the foundation.
Alfred served one tour of duty in Vietnam in the United States Army as a cook and received an honorable discharge in 1973. In 1988 he moved to Sarasota, Florida with his parents. After his mother's death in 1999 he moved to Ocala to care for his father, and they lived in Spanish Oaks. While at Spanish Oaks he used his cooking skills to help with social events. In 2004, Al became a member of the Central Church of Christ. In January 2022, he moved into Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle, where he earned the title of "Puzzle King" because of his ability to quickly complete jigsaw puzzles. Alfred was known for his kind heart and gentle spirit and many people in his life will miss his countenance.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating his life on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30 am at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home at 910 E Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala.
