In Loving MemoryAlfred S. Greco
September 3, 1933 - January 19, 2025
MEXICO, NY -
Mexico, NY – Alfred S. Greco, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 19, 2025.
Fred was born September 3, 1933 to John and Rosaria Greco, the oldest of two children. He was raised in Fulton, NY and graduated from Fulton High School in 1952. In 1971, he met the love of his life, Noreen Smith, and they were wed in 1976.
Fred was a jack of all trades and master of them all – working all over the country, experiencing life to the fullest. At his retirement he was driving medical transport for OCO, where he had touched so many lives with his kindness. He continued to work part-time as a custodian with the Mexico School District after that until he and his wife re-located to Las Vegas, NV for 5 years.
Outside of his employment, Fred practiced the art of Tae Kwon Do for over 20 years, achieving a Third Degree black belt and owning his own schools. But, the true passion of his life was music. Fred started that journey of his life with clarinet in grade school, which earned him a scholarship to The Juilliard School. But as the story goes – he decided instead to become "The Godfather of Rock n Roll," singing and playing tenor sax, clarinet, flute and cow bell with the Rockin' Hi Lows, The Fred Greco Band, The Kingsmen, Yello- Bric Road, Six Guys Named Moe, Tangerine and the Rockin' Hi Lows 2018. His career highlights were when the Rockin' Hi Lows had a hit on the Billboard in 1958 with their original single "I need your love" and being inducted into the Oswego Music Hall of Fame with that same group. His band members were his family and his lifelong friendships came from those he played with. His passion is being carried on by his children and grandchildren.
Fred was predeceased by his parents and four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Noreen Smith Greco; sons Tracy, Kelly and Brandin Greco and Chris Ziolkowski; daughters Kim Winterhalt and Hope Greco-Gaham; sister Joanne Doran; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his rescued fur baby, Jax.
