It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Nelli, 94, of Amsterdam, NY. He entered into eternal life on September 27, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on the Southside of Amsterdam on June 21, 1931, Alfred was the son of the late Sisto and Marianne Parillo Nelli. He was a graduate of Wilber H. Lynch High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He later worked as a supervisor for more than 40 years at Processed Signs & Display Co.
Al was a life long New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed playing bocce at the Port Jackson Club, hosting pool games in his basement with his brothers, and golfing. He loved to sing with his family, often recording his own music. He was also a member of the Southside Veterans’ Club. Above all, Al’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Emma Zumbolo Nelli; his cherished daughters, Jeannine Maresca (Frank) and Tina Ketchell; and his beloved grandchildren, Micky (Nicole) and Lindsey (Jake). He is also survived by his brother, Peter Nelli of Gloversville, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers James, Joseph, Frank, John, Mario, and Floyd.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at River Ridge Living Center for their kindness, compassion, and the joy they brought to Al during his time there.
