Alice Anderson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 18, 2026.
On February 8th 2026, Alice E. (Konstrem) Anderson, 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Skandia, under the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
Alice was born to James and Inie (Wehmasto) Konstrem in Newberry MI on November 6th 1925. At that time the hospital was located on the second floor of the Rexall drug store. Alice's father, James, was a talented blacksmith, and the family resided close to the logging camps where he worked before purchasing their home in Carlshend. Alice and her sisters- Ruth and Shirley- helped their parents with their potato and dairy farm. During those years Alice developed a lifelong love of tractors.
Alice attended Graveraet High School, and graduated in 1942. In 1950, Alice married Robert (Bob) Anderson in a double ceremony shared with her sister Shirley, and her brother-in-law Raymond. The wedding took place in the apple orchard of the girls' parents farm. Bob and Alice raised three children together and enjoyed 63 years of marriage, love, family, friends, and a whole lot of laughter and dancing. They truly loved one another.
Alice was a disciplined secretary and accountant, which led to her elected service of 42 years as the Skandia Township Treasurer. Alice believed in community involvement- she was a den mother for Scouts, a 4-H leader, a chair for The March of Dimes, a charter member of the Skandia Lioness Club, and helped create the Skandia Township Centennial book. Through this work, Alice formed cherished friendships with Marilyn Keto and Erin Stieler.
Alice enjoyed spending time with family, reading, gardening, assembling jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and possessed a wealth of knowledge in many subjects. She made excellent pies, and was still making new friends at the age of 100. In her long life she felt it was of utmost importance to be a good neighbor, and in her last years the favor was returned to her- she was blessed with the best neighbors she could have ever hoped for.
Alice is survived by her sister Ruth Lehtomaki; children Beverly Parkinson, Howard (Karen) Anderson, and Maxine Anderson; grandchildren Aaron (Ieva) Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Kathryn Anderson, Emily (Adam Denny) Anderson, Jacob (Mitzy) Anderson and Bonnie (Patrick) Boris; great grandchildren Avalynn Swick, Vivian and Helen Anderson Denny, and Alfredo Anderson.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, sister Shirley Silta, granddaughter Kerry Lynn Anderson and her dearest friend, Alice Lindberg.
Alice's burial service will be held in the spring, with details to be announced.
Donations may be made in Alice's honor to the Skandia Township Fire Department and 1st Responders.
