Alice Beyeler age 89 of Wynot, Nebraska died on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with the Rev. Dan Wittrock officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wynot. Visitation will be on Friday, at the church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Promes, Jordan Molacek, Jacob Molacek, Colby Promes, Alex Vinson, and Jaxon Vinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Alice’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice Ann was born on October 13, 1934 in St. Helena, Nebraska to Victor Hugo and Lucina Evelyn (Wolff) Hochstein. She grew up in St. Helena and graduated from Wynot High School in 1952. Alice married Raynold Francis Promes on September 7, 1955 in Wynot. Raynold died on 10/27/1984 at the age of 50 years. Alice then married Glenn “Tok” Beyeler and they lived in Wynot until Tok died on 7/25/2014. Alice worked at Ray’s Tavern for eight years from 1956-1964. Then she worked at the Wynot Feed Store for 11 years. Alice continued to be employed for the remainder of her career at Cedar Security Bank in Wynot and Fordyce for 19 years. Alice moved to Missouri on October 5, 2015 to be close to her friend Bill Eskens. She got Covid this past year and was hospitalized for 10 days prior to her moving to Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.
Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church the majority of her life. She loved to garden and enjoyed making her famous cinnamon rolls and cheesecake. She liked playing cards (rummy) and playing the slot machines when she and Tok would go to the casino.
Alice is survived by her five children and spouses Deb Broekemeier of Osmond, Kevin (Tammy) Promes of Norfolk, Gene (Kathleen) Promes of Wynot, Jim (Patti) Promes of Hartington, Pam (Jim) Molacek of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Tina (Aaron) Koch of West Point; two sisters-in-law Aggie Hochstein of St. Helena, Carol Promes of Carroll, Iowa.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raynold Promes; 2nd husband Glenn C. “Tok” Beyeler; son Bob Promes; son-in-law Jim Broekemeier; three sisters Eva (Don) Bruening, Bev (Daryl) Jones, Marion (Fritz) Bruening; brother Daryl Hochstein.
