Alice Marie Bruce, born on April 24, 1933, in New York, NY, passed away on August 3, 2025, at AdventHealth East Orlando Hospital. A devoted Navy wife, she was immensely proud of her husband, John Franklin Bruce, who retired from the Navy and was a survivor of the attack on the USS Arizona. Her legacy is marked by her unwavering support for the military and her commitment to charitable causes, frequently donating to several military charities and the ASPCA. Alice was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association and the VFW 4287.

Alice attended Julia Richmond High School but left after her junior year. Throughout her life, she was known for her proud, generous spirit and her candidness; she was never afraid to share her opinion. She enjoyed walking every day, a reflection of her active lifestyle, especially as she never learned to drive following several small mishaps behind the wheel.

Alice had a profound love for animals, particularly her dogs. Family vacations in Aruba brought joy into her life, and for three years, she cherished the experience of living in Yokosuka, Japan, during her husband’s service. Her passion for travel extended to cruising in the Caribbean Islands, where she relished adventures as far south as Barbados.

Alice leaves behind her beloved family: her sons, John William Bruce and his wife Nancy, James Martin Bruce and his wife Bonnie, and Robert Newton Bruce and his wife Karen Condon-Bruce. Her cherished grandchildren, Heather Lynn Bruce, Laura Ann-Marie Bruce, and Krystjana Jeanne Bruce, along with her treasured great-grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Hall, Iain Bruce Hall, and Adeline Rosemarie Hall, will fondly remember her. She is also survived by her brother, Donald William Martyny, and his wife Gudrun, and her sister, Delores Bixler.

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Franklin Bruce; her father, Emile Joseph Martyny; and her mother, Alice Ann (Innerarity) Martyny.

Visitation will be held on August 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Orlando, located at 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822.

Alice Marie Bruce's life was a testament to love, strength, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
