Alice DeNardo Obituary Alice Janos DeNardo, a beacon of love and warmth, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Anaheim, California, after living a long, full, and beautiful life. Born on October 3, 1928, in Manhattan, New York, Alice's journey through life was marked by joy, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She was a spiritual soul who found beauty in everyday moments and spread kindness wherever she went.
Alice grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Astoria and was a proud product of the New York City education system. Following her schooling, she began her career as a secretary, a role that showcased her organization skills and attention to detail. However, her life took a romantic turn on a brisk New York day when a chance encounter with Frank DeNardo, facilitated by a mutual friend's offer of a ride, sparked an immediate connection. Their brief courtship quickly blossomed into a loving marriage, and together, they shared over 46 years of devotion and companionship until Frank's passing in 2001.
As a homemaker, Alice's life revolved around caring for her beloved husband and nurturing her children. She is survived by two sons, Douglas and his wife Joanie DeNardo, Dale and his wife Dianne DeNardo; one daughter, Janice DeNardo; two sisters, Barbara Hajek and Carole Nowak; four grandsons, Dominick, Eric, Kyle, and Derek; one granddaughter, Kristin; two great-granddaughters, Francesca and Carmela; and one great-grandson, Avelino. Her grandchildren and friends affectionately referred to her as "Babi," a name that became synonymous with her gentle and sweet nature. Alice was preceded in death by her son Denis DeNardo and one sister Marie "Mimi" Kolar, adding a poignant chapter to her story of resilience and love.
Alice was a woman of many interests and talents, with a particular passion for travel. She cherished the opportunity to explore new places, both within the United States and abroad. Her family-oriented spirit shone brightest when she gathered her loved ones, creating lasting memories with every reunion. She was a collector of Angel items especially figurines and ornaments. Her creativity was evident through her skillful hands, which lovingly crafted holiday decor, knitted, crocheted, and produced exquisite needlepoint works. She embraced her children's varied interests with grace, whether it involved sports, camping, or even "reptiles," demonstrating her unwavering encouragement for their passions even though it was really not her cup of tea.
A lover of the sun, Alice relished spending time basking in its warmth, often accompanied by her favorite evening cocktail, a vodka tonic. Her daily prayers for her family were a testament to her loving and protective nature, and everyone who knew her considered her to be incredibly sweet.
Alice Janos DeNardo's legacy is one of love, creativity, and family – values that she embodied fully throughout her remarkable life. Her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Alice, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and the countless ways she enriched our world with her presence.
