Herminia De Guzman Reyes, a beloved matriarch and embodiment of unwavering love and faith, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in
Orange, California. Born on April 25, 1928, in Manila, Philippines, Herminia's life was a testament to her resilience and dedication to her family. At a tender age, Herminia faced the immense responsibility of nurturing her siblings after the loss of their mother. This early experience shaped her into the compassionate and caring figure she would be known for all her life.
Herminia's heart found its match when she met Pedro Reyes at the young age of 15. Their love story was one for the ages, resulting in a marriage that spanned more than seven decades, a union filled with mutual respect and unwavering commitment until Pedro's passing in 2018. Together, they created a family legacy marked by love and devotion.
As a homemaker, Herminia took great pride in caring for her family, a role she cherished deeply. Her ability to transform a house into a home with her culinary skills, and the warmth of her presence was unparalleled. Her hands, always busy sewing, crocheting, or tending to her garden, were instruments of her love, creating beauty and comfort for all who entered her home.
Herminia's move to the United States in 1986 marked a new chapter in her life, one that brought her closer to her children and allowed her to play an integral role in the upbringing of her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her time with them was filled with lessons of faith, kindness, and the joy of simple pleasures, like watching her favorite Korean soap operas.
Herminia's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's trials and triumphs. She raised her family with a strong Catholic foundation, instilling in them the values of love and reverence for the Lord. Herminia's kindness and faith-filled ways touched everyone she encountered. She had such a generous nature with her time and her resources. She loved to slip the grandchildren some pocket money they called "Baon" She loved to take her family to lunch and enjoyed every opportunity to pay for their meals. For her, she loved giving and her spirit was refueled when she had the chance to do this
She leaves behind a family that adores her, including her children Estrellita and her husband Vincent Healy, Edith and her husband Armando Duran, Elizabeth and her husband Gerald Healy; her son Fermin and his wife Susan Reyes; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Herminia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Pedro Reyes, her sons Rodolfo and Roberto Reyes, and her daughter Leticia DeGuzman.
Herminia De Guzman Reyes's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, sacrifice, and faith. Her legacy will be cherished and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
