Alice C. Fechter, nee Zeckmeister, of the Town of Saukville, died on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Pine Haven Covenant in Sheboygan Falls at the age of 96 years. She was born May 29, 1928 on the family farm in Ozaukee County to the late Anton and Catherine (nee Berrens) Zeckmeister.
On May 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Robert Fechter, Sr. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Robert predeceased December 22, 2017.
After their marriage, Alice and Robert settled on the Fechter Family Farms. Together, they ran the farm and later raised their family.
She enjoyed spending time tending to her flower gardens, crocheting afghans that were shared with family and friends, loved tackling puzzles of all sorts and took pride in decorating her yard with many various lawn ornaments.
Survivors include 5 children: Susan (James) Van Beek, Jean (Alan) Carmody, Linda (Ronald) Wilkens, Bob Jr. (Robin) and John; 1 daughter-in-law Kelly Fechter; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law Ruth Zeckmeister and Jean Zeckmeister; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 son Scott, 1 great-grandchild Isaiah, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Betty (Al) Mundt, Bobby Zeckmeister, Ralph (Bernice) Zeckmeister, Tony Zeckmeister and Jane (Roman) Fahney.
The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation on Thursday, June 5 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg from 10 until 11:45 a.m. with A Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Newburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
