Alice Rutan Knopf

Alice R. Knopf passed away Sept. 21. Her magnificent strength in her successful 17-year battle against breast cancer was a huge inspiration to her family, friends and fellow patients. Mrs. Knopf came to Ocala in 1983 from her native Rochester, NY. She was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church & VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #4209. She enjoyed playing cards and watching the Braves & Magic on TV. She was preceded in death by her husband George Knopf; son, G. James Knopf; grandson, Sean Knopf; and sister, Patricia Henning. She is survived by her son, Richard Knopf of TX; brothers, Thomas Rutan (Erlene) of TX and Richard Rutan (Aecha) of NY; Sister-in-law, Margaret Knopf of Largo and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Springs (4047 NE 21 ST, Ocala 236-2230) on Tuesday, Sept 27 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Hospice of Marion County (PO Box 4860 Ocala FL 34478) or the American Cancer Society.
