Alice Rose Montgomery, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025. Alice was born on November 11, 1934, to BJ and Jewel Vineyard. Alice was raised in Mesquite, TX, and graduated valedictorian of Mesquite High School at 16 years old. She went on to pursue her higher education at Drughams Business School.
Alice led a highly successful career, retiring from both National Oil Well and the Federal Reserve. She married Billy Jo Montgomery in 1955, and gave birth to their only child, Lana Jo, in 1959. Alice was a deeply religious and family oriented woman. Alice was actively involved in church throughout her life and remained a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church until her passing. Alice was a deeply cherished Nana and Nene to her grandchildren. Being a mother and grandmother were among her greatest accomplishments. She was a beloved member of her community during her time in Forney, TX and in her later years in Scurry, TX.
She was preceded in death by her father, BJ Vineyard; mother, Jewel Vineyard; husband, Billy Jo Montgomery; and daughter, Lana Montgomery Couch. Alice is survived by her grandchildren, Gordon Couch and Ali (Zakkary) Chapman; great-grandchildren Rylee and Kayde Chapman; and many siblings, family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church in Forney, TX. Visitation starting at 1:00 PM, service following at 2:00 PM. Graveside service to follow.
