Alice Pearl "Aunt Alice; Mama Alice" Overton

Alice Pearl Wood Overton, 100, of Franklin County, passed away November 28, 2025. She was born September 25, 1925, in Franklin County, NC, to the late Charlie Wood and Lillie Sledge Wood.

Alice, known to many as Aunt Alice and Mama Alice, was dedicated to her family and made time with them a priority. She enjoyed bluegrass music, especially the band her son Trey played with, and spent many years playing drums in her husband Joe's band. She loved to cook and made sure visitors, whether family, friends, or band members, never left hungry. Cassie and Tom could always count on her to prepare their favorite meals when they visited.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Brooks (Tom), of Florida; grandchildren, Amy Briggs, of Zebulon, and Andy Martin (Ann), of Michigan; great-granddaughter, Haley Briggs, of Zebulon; special niece, Ellen Marks (Jim); special great-great-nieces, Laney and Lorna Marks; special great-great-nephew, James Marks; and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Ebbie Martin, Bill Glover, and Joe Overton; and her son, Ebbie Bryant Martin III.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 – 12:00 pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Rd, Zebulon, NC 27597, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm. Entombment will take place immediately following the service at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W. Gannon Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597.
