Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory - Wendell on Dec. 5, 2025.
Susan Ellen Lamoureux Dart ("Lammie"), 75, of
Wendell, North Carolina, closed her eyes on this side of heaven and opened them in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born on Friday, October 13, 1950, at 10:13 a.m. in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Donald J. Lamoureux and Helen A. Seder Lamoureux (Polon).
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Michael E. Dart; her daughter, Jennifer S. Ferrell (husband Jermaine); and her son, Michael E. Dart II (wife Tammy), all of
Wendell, NC; and an honorary daughter, Alina S. Dart of Wilbraham, Massachusetts.
She leaves behind her greatest blessings-her six grandsons: Joseph Graves (fiancé Carly) of Raleigh, NC; Nick and Luke Dart; and Andrew and Evan Fryett, all of
Wendell, NC. They meant the world to her, and she was incredibly proud of each of them. To everyone she ever met, she was known as Nana, Mom, Susie, or Lammie.
Sue was the second oldest of six siblings and is survived by three sisters and one brother: Barbara Lamoureux Browder of Barnwell, SC; Mary Dawson of Springfield, MA; Dennis Lamoureux (wife Vicky) of Mount Airy, NC; and Luana Brisson (husband Denis) of Selma, NC; as well as her sister-in-law, Gail Lamoureux of Fairmont, WV. She is also survived by many in-laws, extended family members, those she lovingly called her "bonus children," numerous friends, and her furry companion, Bella-Mae.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Lamoureux; her brothers-in-law, Ron Dawson and Howie Dart; and her sisters-in-law, Grace Ann Babiec and Ann Dart.
Because of her loving and caring nature, Sue followed her calling into nursing. In 1989, she and her sister completed the LPN program in Springfield, Massachusetts. Many years later, at the age of 50, she returned to college to earn her RN degree at STCC in Springfield. She loved caring for people, and her passion was serving the elderly in the "geriatrics" and "on-the-vent" units at nursing facilities. Many of her coworkers became like family. They often shared how much they learned from her-compassion, teamwork, and how to treat every patient with dignity, love, and respect. There was never a task too big or too small for her to help with. She wasn't just another nurse; she was a friend and a blessing to countless people. She worked in many facilities throughout her career, but the two she spoke of most fondly were Municipal Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, and BOV in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
In her spare time, she enjoyed many hobbies. She loved crafting and sewing, making sock baby dolls and pillows for children and mission projects. She was the family baker and was known for her homemade chocolate cake with mocha frosting. She loved going out to eat; especially when her whole family was with her. She delighted in planning family vacations, with two of her favorite destinations being Disney World in Florida and Newport, Vermont, where she cherished the mountains, lakes, and peacefulness created by God for her family to enjoy. Nothing made her happier than time with family. She loved Friday game nights, board games, card games, Lego competitions over social media, and rock and gem hounding with her brother. She could talk for hours about her favorite TV shows. She loved oldies music-and if music was playing, she was moving!
But above all, the best day of her life was Sunday, October 19, 2014, when she publicly professed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through Believer's Baptism. From that moment on, her faith grew until her very last breath. She went from listening to "oldies" to what she called her "Jesus music," and from talking about everyday things to telling others about Jesus-how He suffered and died on a cross meant for her. She found peace and strength knowing the Lord guided every step and had a plan for her from her very first breath (Jeremiah 29:11).
The family will receive visitors at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 1794 Wendell Blvd.,
Wendell, NC, on Friday, December 12, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Immediately following visitation, the family invites you to stay for her Celebration of Life service. No suits or fancy dresses-she would have wanted you to come as you are, ready to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to two foundations dear to Lammie's heart:
Kwagala Missions – She longed to join this mission trip to Uganda with her church but felt her health prevented her from going. Christmas donations are currently being collected for baskets of food and essentials.

The Noelle Strong Foundation – Little Noelle, age 7, was a local child who battled cancer and went to be with Jesus earlier this year. When Lammie heard her story, she immediately began following her page and praying for her and her family. This foundation was formed in Noelle's memory to support other local children with cancer. The family has no doubt that "Nana" is now loving on Little Noelle in heaven.
