Russell M. Dart

Russell Marvin Dart, age 87 of Pearland, Texas, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Russell was born October 3, 1938, in Canal Point, Florida to Russell Maurice Dart and Emma Pauline Dubose Dart. He graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1956 and after serving in the Air Force (1956 – 1959), he continued his education at Edison Junior College, followed by the University of West Florida. After receiving a degree in accounting, he began a career with the Veterans Administration where he held fiscal administration positions in several states culminating in his final post as Chief Fiscal Officer at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

After retirement in 1996, Russell volunteered for multiple organizations including the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lawhon Elementary Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Country Place Community Association, First Presbyterian Church of Houston and the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. A lifetime member of the Texas Sons of the American Revolution Cradle of Texas Chapter #33, he was active with the JROTC program and served in multiple offices including chapter president and state treasurer for TXSSAR. Russell loved to travel, and although he toured several European countries, he was most proud that he had visited 47 states and all 254 Texas counties and courthouses.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 23 years, Sue Eubanks Dart, his sister Sarah Dart Ferrero, his brothers Maurice Elwood Dart and Edward Paul Dart and his stepdaughters, Margaret Maxwell McClure and Melinda Maxwell Rodriguez. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Dart Finger, of Alamosa, Colorado; Jada Dart Kearns (Kevin) of Winter Springs, Florida and Sarah Clark Konopik (Doug) of Goodrich, Texas; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM – 11:00AM Friday, November 14, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
