Alice Regina Patterson was born on September 16, 1938, to Hattie Estelle and Millward Brae Andrew in Houston, Texas. Her maternal grandfather was a preacher. Her maternal grandparents were the old-time Assembly of God. My mom enjoyed talking about her grandmother's set prayer schedule, hot biscuits, and kisses. She was a great spiritual influence in my mom's life. My mother met Henry Patterson through her brother David Andrew. Henry joined the Marines and was sent to Korea. Regina thought the relationship was over. He never forgot her. He returned on leave with marriage in mind. They were married on March 23, 1953. Three children would be born to this sweet union. Mom always said her grandfather married them well because the marriage lasted 60 years. Mother had various jobs, but the one I remember is Humble ISD. She retired when my dad retired so they could travel. They enjoyed traveling to state parks in either a travel trailer or a motor home. My mother loved the Porter Apostolic Church, the Green's, the McCoys, and the church family. She would make pies often for someone at the church. She never stopped telling people about her church and how they needed to visit. She is survived by her daughter, Athena Mangus and grandchildren, Chris McDonald, Martha Bible, Jesse Mangus, Brandon Mangus and Jonathan Mangus. She will be dearly missed by all.
