Nichole or "Nikki" as she was referred to by her friends and family, was born in Portland, Maine on December 25, 1969 to John and Carol Kenfield. She grew up in California and Minnesota. Nikki earned a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University and a master's degree in business administration from Pepperdine University.
Nikki worked at various jobs in California and decided to move to Honolulu, Hawaii, after traveling there on a vacation. In Honolulu, she would meet her future husband, Gordon Horiye. On June 3, 2006 Nikki and Gordon were married with their friends and family in attendance.
In September of 2007, Nikki and Gordon moved to The Woodlands, Texas. She enjoyed playing golf, attending exercise classes, gardening, and caring for her many adopted Golden Retrievers and cats.
Nikki was preceded in death by her father John and stepmother Jan Kenfield.
Nikki is survived by her husband Gordon of The Woodlands Texas, mother Carol Kenfield of Nampa, Idaho, sister Kirsten Kenfield of Prescott, Arizona, stepdaughter Carolyn Ballinger, nee Horiye, stepsister Julie Karns, stepbrother Greg Sandman and stepsister Kristen Sandman.
The family has chosen to mourn privately at this time. For those who wish to offer condolences, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Nikki's honor to Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston.
