With his loving family by his side, Colonel Thomas Stephen Reap, United States Marine Corps (Retired), passed away peacefully at the age of 94. He was the son of the late Stephen and Irene Reap and brother of Phillip Reap and sister Ellen Browne.

Tom graduated from Jersey City Junior College before entering Navy flight school. Upon completion, he joined the United Sates Marine Corps, beginning a distinguished career in aviation and military service. While serving, he earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and later a Master's degree from Pepperdine University.

In the early years of his military career, Tom flew jets and was even invited to join the elite Navy Blue Angels. When the Vietnam War broke out, he transitioned to flying helicopters and went on to serve two combat tours. For his bravery and service, he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and a Purple Heart.

Tom was married for more than 60 years to the love of his life, Veronica Anne Reap, who preceded him in death in 2015. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he and Veronica settled in Chesapeake, VA, where he later worked alongside his eldest son, the late Stephen Thomas Reap, at the family business, Reap Industries.

Outside of his service and work, Toms greatest passion was the game of golf. He played faithfully three times a week with close friends until well into his later years. He and Veronica traveled extensively throughout the world, even spending cherishes years living in both Japan and London.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Veronica Anne Reap and his eldest son, Stephen Thomas Reap.

He is survived by his son, Thomas S. Reap and wife Brooks; his daughter, Patricia Blecha; seven grandchildren – Thomas, Shawn, Veronica, Leanna, Phillipp, Parris Ann, and Robert Blecha, Jr. and seven great-grandchildren – Stephen, Natalie, Thomas, Roman, Joni Johnson, Elenor, and Tyler Hambleton.

He will be remembered for his courage, devotion to family and unwavering loyalty to the Corps.

A memorial service will take place at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. 1416 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, VA on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 12pm.
