Alice was born on July 24, 1948, the daughter of Telford and Tevaleen Winger from Decorah. She graduated from Thomas Roberts High School Class of 1966. After High School, Alice worked for Northeast Iowa Telephone Company as an operator. Later she did bookkeeping for Decorah State Bank and Berg International.
June 12, 1971, Alice was united in Marriage to Duane Ruffridge at Washington Prairie Church, uniting them with their son David and in 1973 daughter Julie. Alice stayed home for a while, raising their children being a farmer's wife and selling candles. As their children became older, she started to work at Town and Country Jewelry and later became the owner. In 1992, Duane and Alice decided to end the jewelry business and worked at Vanberia until retirement. This allowed Alice and Duane the opportunity to travel and stay active with all their children.
With the love of flowers, Alice spent many hours gardening and taking care of all of her flower gardens. They both have enjoyed being members of the Elks. Alice was also a Loyal Knight at the Elks.
Alice is survived by her husband; Duane Ruffridge of Decorah, and 2 children: David (Lisa) Ruffridge of Stewartville, MN, and Julie (Chance George) Ruffridge of Douglas, WY. Grandchildren: Ashley, Emily, Kiley, Sara, Alyssa, Justin, Addison, and great-grandchild: Preston. She is also survived by her sister Ruth (Rob) of Earlville, IA. Nieces and Nephews Craig, Lee, Crystal, Amanda, Robyn, and Jacob, and her Special Friend Sylvia Steine.
Alice was preceded in death by her son: Daniel Strand, and her parents: Telford and Tevaleen Winger.
