Alice Scott Obituary
Alice Jacqueline Jones Scott, 82, passed away peacefully at home in Terry, MS on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 12pm to 2pm. A celebration of life service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
A long- time resident of Terry, MS, Alice was born in Mobile, AL on June 25, 1942 to Houston and Ruby “Mae” Jones. She helped run the office at Buford Plumbing for over 30 years. Alice was well-known for her delicious, home-cooked meals, cakes and desserts and for serving them with love to family and friends. Alice was also known for her huge love of sports. In her younger years she played basketball, softball, and bowled on a women’s league. In recent years, she could be found in her recliner enjoying Alabama football and many other sports. She also enjoyed the Game Show Network. Alice was a long-time active member of First Baptist Church of Terry.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Scott, her son Jeff Scott, her parents, grandson Cory Scott, and lifelong friends Howard and Joann Buford.
Alice is survived by her sister, Dorothy Emerich of Kentucky; daughter Jackie Kelly of Clinton, MS; son Jason (Vanessa) Scott of Montgomery, TX; “daughters” Jana Buford and Michelle Prewitt of Terry, MS; grandchildren Brad (Alisha) Love, Blair (Bryan) Hammon, Kaylee Scott, Allie Jean Scott and seven great grandchildren.
