Alice M. Scrobe

Alice M. Scrobe, 96, a longtime Hawthorne resident, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Manhattan, NY on March 2, 1929 to the late Gustav & Maria (nee Von Borstel) Zimmer.

She was married on July 20, 1952 in Manhattan, NY to Emil P. Scrobe, who predeceased her after almost 65 years of marriage on June 22, 2017.

Alice was very proud of her German heritage and was a member of the Turn Verein German Club in Manhattan where she took gymnastics and went to German school. She participated in the Senior Citizens club in the Mount Pleasant community and was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawthorne. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading the New York Times and traveling.

Alice is survived by her three children: Andrew (Heidi) Scrobe, Susan (Charlie) Ortiz, and Christopher (Bridget) Scrobe, as well as her twelve grandchildren, all whom she adored: Andrew, Kelly, James, Alexandra, Jennifer, Veronica, Steven, Brianne, Ciara, Emily, Christianna, Victoria, and her seven great-grandchildren: Dylan, Audrey, James Jr., Joanna, Bennett, Jack & Emerson, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews.

Her Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15th from 3-7 pm at the HAWTHORNE FUNERAL HOME, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 292 Elwood Avenue, Hawthorne on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am, followed by internment at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 100 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, New York.
