James D. Cooper, a resident of Montrose, NY and formerly Pleasantville, NY passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 at the age of 74. His parents Alice and Norman Cooper predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Ronald (wife Carol) and niece Robin Stoutenburg (husband Christian) and nephew Daniel Cooper (wife Meagan) as well as 4 grand nieces.
James graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1969 and attended Westchester Community College. He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1971-1974.
James pursued a career in the supermarket industry and worked for over 30 years, and was a manager with the Food Emporium (owned by A&P Supermarkets) when he retired in 2011.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ballard-Durand Funeral Home and services will be private.
