Alice E. Somers, 83, of State Route 31, Canastota, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Upstate Medical University, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Born in Syracuse on January 13, 1941, she was the daughter of Raymond and Alice Jones Wulliez. A lifelong resident of the area, Alice was educated in Canastota Central School. She married Robert D. Somers in Bridgeport on September 17, 1965. Mr. Somers died on September 17, 2018. Prior to her retirement, Alice was employed by B. G. Sulzle as an inspector. She was a member of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church. Alice was dedicated to St. Jude, loved her family and friends, was a fantastic cook and enjoyed plants and birds. Surviving are: daughters, Belinda Somers of Syracuse, Deborah LaCroix of Clearwater, Florida, Melissa Somers and Elizabeth (Keith) Saunders, all of Canastota; son, Frank (Missie) Somers of Canastota; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne Tripp and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Thasier and a brother, Bud Wulliez. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sunday, August 18, 2024, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverend Tony Tosti, officiating. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
