It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice R. Steininger, who passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her home in Salisbury. Born on July 21, 1941, in Millsboro, DE, Alice was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her.

For over 20 years, Alice ran a daycare out of her home, nurturing and caring for countless children as if they were her own. Her generous heart was always open, and she was the first to lend a helping hand to those in need. Gardening was another passion of hers; she found joy in nurturing her flowers and watching them bloom. In her downtime, Alice loved to challenge herself with crossword puzzles and word searches. A huge fan of television, she never missed an episode of "The Waltons," "Little House on the Prairie," or her favorite WWF matches. Alice and her late husband had a knack for home improvement, often teaming up to paint, wallpaper, and tackle various DIY projects around the house. Alice also enjoyed doing clothing alterations and making accent pillows and scarves sewn by hand to match her home décor.

Alice is survived by her children, Rebecca Ehrisman (Douglas) and Dale Steininger; four cherished grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Prado (Pete), Dale Steininger, Jr. (Nikki), Hannah R. Ehrisman, and Chelsea L. Ehrisman; six great-grandchildren, Josie, James, Katie, Christine (TJ), Anna, and Nakita; one great-great grandchild, Asher; her sister, Madeline Toomey; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Dale Lewis and Rhoda Jane Lewis; her husband, Frank Jerome Steininger; son, James Allan Steininger; brother, Paul J. Lewis (Carolyn); sisters, Beulah Lewis (Benny), Catherine Adams (Don), Margaret Casino (Jimmy), and Emma Gray; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Toomey and Carroll Steininger.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. The interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.

Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
