Alice Mary Wands, 82 of Highland Village TX passed away at home on 03/07/2024. Alice was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont to James W Diggins and Grace M. Diggins on 02/12/1942. Alice went to Bellows Falls high school and graduated in 1960. She was active with the school as a cheerleader, a staff member for the Senior yearbook and was inducted into the National Honor Society.
Alice went on to get an associate degree from Bryant College in Rhode Island before being recruited to work as an administrative assistant for the CIA in Langley Virginia. Once leaving the CIA Alice became a dedicated and working mother. Alice was extremely talented and started an interior decorating business and later opened an art gallery and studio where she displayed and sold her artwork. Alice left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was passionate about her interests. She loved creative writing, was an accomplished artist and interior decorator, pouring her heart and soul into them.
Alice loved to shop and collect dolls from all over the world. She was known by many as the "Hat Lady" and had a vast collection of hats to choose from. She was a dog lover and especially loved her Bichon Frise puppies, Addison, (Addy) and Chanel. Alice loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was always looking for creative ways for them to have fun.
Alice is survived by her brother Joseph Diggins and nieces Linda, Kathy and Marjorie of Hartford Connecticut, sister in law Maureen Rogers of Boston Massachusetts, and husband Robert (Bob) Wands of 60 years, son Robert Wands Jr. and wife Becky of Farmers Branch TX, Daughter Kathleen King, and husband Alex King III of Highland Village TX. And grandchildren Sean Shugart and wife Kim of Shaddy Shores TX, Alex King IV and wife Leslie of Lewisville TX, Corey Wands, and Kati Wands of Dallas TX. and her great grandchildren, Madison Shugart, Brian Shugart, Abigail Shugart and Alex King V.
Alice was preceded in death by her father James W Diggins, Mother Grace M. Diggins, and brother James Diggins.
Alice's final wishes were that she would not have a funeral, as she did not want her passing to be a sad event. Instead, she wanted a Celebration of Life. A Celebration of Life will take place on April 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Lane Lewisville, TX 75067
Alice desired this to be a happy event filled with laughter and good memories.
