Mrs. Alice E. Waszkiewicz, 95, a resident of MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the nursing home.
Alice was born in Rome, NY, on March 28, 1928, the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Bogusz) Buczek and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On September 25, 1948, Alice was united in marriage with Frank G. Waszkiewicz, Jr. at Transfiguration Church in Rome, a loving and devoted union of almost 52 years, until Franks death in 2000. For many years, Alice was the owner and operator of Village Liquors in NY Mills. She enjoyed trips to the casino, knitting and scratch off lottery tickets. Alice loved socializing with everyone and made friends very easily. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mark's Church in N. Utica.
Mrs. Waszkiewicz is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Lynton Clark and Bonnie Waszkiewicz all of N. Utica; two cherished grandchildren, Audrey and Donald Kane of Utica and Sarah and Michael VanDusen of Camillus, NY; three adored great grandchildren, Emily and Hailey Kane and Kendall VanDusen; one sister-in-law, Helen Buczek of Rome; two nieces, Priscilla Perruzzi and Marian Lovier and one nephew, Richard Buczek. Besides her parents, Eugene and Mary and husband, Frank, Alice was predeceased by three brothers, Henry, Edward and Ted Buczek.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Alice's funeral Mass of Christian burial on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica. The family will greet relatives and friends in church at the conclusion of the funeral Mass. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Frank in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
Mrs. Waszkiewicz's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Barton West as well as her case worker, Betsey, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Alice.
Please omit flowers and consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 in Alice's memory. Envelopes will be available at the church.
