Alicia Cardona Moreno, a cherished matriarch, departed this world on May 5, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1935, in Mathis, Texas, to parents Tito and Baudelia Cardona. Her journey through life was characterized by an unwavering commitment to her family, which she treasured above all else. Alicia's spirit was indomitable; she possessed a delightful personality that made her the life of the party and possessed the most remarkable laughter that could brighten the gloomiest days.

With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Alicia was always seeking to expand her horizons, often found engrossed in the insights offered by MSNBC and CNN. She was not only a wonderful cook, renowned for her ability to master various cuisines, but also a talented seamstress and a beautiful decorator. Notably, however, she had a particular distaste for banana bread, which perhaps added a humorous quirk to her culinary repertoire.

Alicia's legacy is rich and profound; she was a super mom who raised her children with unwavering strength and love, instilling in them the values of honesty, integrity, and hard work. Her family was her life, her pride and joy, as evidenced by her close-knit circle. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Diana (Dr. William) Flores, Valentin (Alma) Moreno, Delia (Ysidro) Villarreal, Gloria (Earl) Cole, and Valtazar (Dolores) Moreno. The bonds she nurtured extended to her grandchildren, with a lineage encompassing 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the gifts of wisdom and love imparted by their beloved matriarch.

Alicia leaves behind a legacy rich in love and laughter. She is reunited with her cherished son, Ernesto “Neto” Moreno; mother, Baudelia Bazaldua Cardona; father, Tito Cardona; and her siblings, Soila Alvarado, Ricardo Cardona, Asenet Rocha, Lydia Gonzalez, Celerina Hernandez, Baudelia Gutierrez, and Paula Gaitan.

Public Visitation will be held from 3 PM until 9 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno II.

Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Guillermo Flores, Chico Villarreal, Tito Villarreal, B.R. Moreno, Omar Moreno, and Mario Perez, with Jacob Mendiola serving as an honorary pallbearer.

Alicia Moreno’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family.
