Alison Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bailey Funeral Home - Mendham on Oct. 8, 2024.
Alison Nelson, a loving wife, mother, stepmother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and animal advocate, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024 at the age of 72. Born in New York City in 1952, Alison brought warmth, laughter, and a generous heart to everyone she met.
Alison was raised in Manhattan, New York and graduated from Columbia Grammar School where she met the two best friends of her life. She went on to attend American University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Alison had a long career in the financial services industry, while also raising her two children alone until they were teenagers, before retiring to dedicate her time to her passions. She had a deep love for animals, particularly dogs, and her home was always filled with the joy of furry companions including her beloved Labrador Arya. In recent years, Alison found great fulfillment in volunteering for Northstar Pet Rescue, where she dedicated countless hours to caring for and advocating for animals in need.
Alison's life was a testament to her devotion to family and friends. She was a loving sister to Leslie, aunt to Scott and Avery, devoted wife to her husband, Robert, and a loving mother to her twin sons, Morgan and Spencer, and daughter-in-law Jodi. Alison cherished her two grandsons, Dylan and Devon, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. She embraced her stepchildren, Alexander, Sophia, Grace, and Genevieve, as her own and was a loving grandmother to her eight step-grandchildren.
Alison's gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 10 at 12 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to in Alison's name.
