Obituary of Mary H. Baumann

Mary H. Baumann passed away on February 18, 2026. She was 57 years old.

Born in Orange, New Jersey, to parents William and Ellen (Byrne) Hanlon, Mary was a longtime Mendham resident. She graduated from Mendham High School in 1986, University of Virginia in 1990, and earned her MBA at NYU Stern School of Business in 1997. She was awarded several distinctions during her academic journey.

At the University of Virginia, she excelled in the Political and Social Thought Program along with numerous social and academic societies. Mary's distinguished career in marketing took her from Deloitte to Pfizer, and later GSK, before taking a position as Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Marketing at Sanofi. She led important projects that made medication more accessible and improved treatment options for individuals. Mary was a very devoted mother to her three sons, enjoyed time spent on the beach at the Jersey Shore, organizing family gatherings, and an avid reader of any book she could get her hands on. She enjoyed travelling, skiing, and hiking, and was active in her community with the Brookrace Homeowners Association for neighborhood gatherings. Mary was a trusted individual for tough conversations, always the voice of reason, and provided valuable guidance for a number of people throughout her life. She was an exceptional mother, sister, wife, friend and colleague who will be remembered by many.

Mary is survived by her sons, Chris, Greg and Tim Baumann, husband Christopher Baumann, father William Hanlon, sister Karen Hanlon, and brothers Bill Hanlon and Michael (Suzanne) Hanlon. She is predeceased by her mother, Ellen Hanlon.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, from 4 to 8 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, February 26th, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, W. Main Street, Mendham.

I´m so deeply sorry to learn of Mary´s passing. I had the privilege of working with Mary at Wyeth and Pfizer, and she left a lasting mark on me and my career.

Mary was an extraordinary mentor, manager, and coach - someone with a genuine can-do spirit and an energizing presence that lifted everyone around her. It´s true what they say -- you always remember how people make you feel. Mary was a champion of her team and those around her. She made us feel believed in. She challenged us to be our best while making the journey meaningful and fun. I sought out her advice not just then, but many times throughout my career. She was wise, thoughtful, and gave her full attention to every conversation.

Beyond her professional brilliance, Mary was warm, funny, and truly one of a kind. The world lost someone far too soon. I will always remember her and feel incredibly grateful to have known her.

May Mary's memory always be a blessing. My deepest condolences to her family.

My deepest condolences on Mary's passing. Although we had lost touch since our childhood days in Morris Plains, I will always remember the funny, energetic, kind next door neighbor and friend. Wishing the entire family comfort and peace during this heartbreaking time.

I was lucky enough to have known Mary for over 25 years and work with her at two different corporations. She was deeply respected and appreciated by all who knew her. She succeeded with abundance in a mission that we all share, to take care of our families and leave the world in a better place.

Surely, He will make you shine like the Sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand. I already miss you my friend.

Mrs. Baumann was always the kindest, warmest woman. I so appreciated her hosting parties and get-togethers with a short heads up, always so willing to provide a safe place for a fun night. Her genuine nature is reflected in the giving spirit her sons possess. I´ll always remember her kindness and her welcoming spirit <3

I am so saddened by the loss of Mary. I have treasured memories of Mary and Billy through high school and college. Although we have lost touch through the years, the time we had together is a treasured part of my life. She was a fun, intelligent, beautiful person and I was very lucky to call her a dear friend. I´m sending love, hugs and condolences to the Hanlon family.

I was so very sad to hear of Mary's passing from a mutual former colleague of ours. I had the great joy and good fortune of working with Mary for several years during our time together at Wyeth. Simply put, she was a shining bright spot within those business walls. For me personally, I always looked to people as a source of comfort, assurance and pleasantness in an environment that can be all-too stressful at times, as we all know. Mary was certainly one of those people. I can't think of a single interaction with Mary -- whether it was a meeting in my office, a major presentation she had to give, or a simple hallway run-in -- where she didn't have that same genuine bright smile on her face. Smiles are contagious. So is energy. Mary brought an energy that was warm, friendly, assured and super smart to undergird it all. She made our days better. My deepest condolences go out to her family and closest loved ones. She will be warmly remembered by all of us.

Patrice and I and our 4 children lived in Mendham from 1976 till 1989. Two of our children - Kathleen and Rick were friends of Mary and Billy and their schoolmates from grammar school through high school.
We had the opportunity and pleasure of meeting and talking with Mary when she would visit with our children and on many other occasions.

She was such a vibrant, sweet, intelligent person who would actively engage in conversations about so many different and relevant topics in such a friendly way. Mary and her brother Billy were such nice friends to our children and created so many wonderful memories. All of us were so fortunate to have had the pleasure of knowing the Hanlons..

We are deeply saddened on learning of Mary´s death and we pray that she may rest in peace in heaven. We also offer our sincere condolences to all of Mary´s Family.

When I learned yesterday of Mary's passing I just dropped my head in disbelief and sadness. We worked together at Wyeth and I will forever remember her fondly for so many reasons, but mostly because she was an intelligent and kind person; simply the best. Her motives were always good. Mary, fly high my friend. Keeping the entire Baumann family in my prayers.

I don´t even know where to begin. Mary wasn´t just my best friend - she was my chosen family, my history, my constant through every season of life. Growing up together, we shared so many moments that shaped who I am. I will always carry her laughter, her loyalty, and the countless memories we built side by side.

My heart breaks for your family. I can only imagine the depth of your loss. Please know that I am grieving with you, and that I am here for you in any way you need - whether that´s to sit in silence, share stories, or just hold space for the pain.

All my love, always.
