Alistair Taig Obituary
EDWARDSBURG, Mich. - Alistair Gordon Taig, 91, of Edwardsburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Hubbard Hill-Living Wisdom Community.
Alistair was born on June 6, 1929, in Swansea, Wales, to Thomas and Elizabeth Taig. He married Beryl Rees in 1953.
Alistair honorably served his country of Great Britain in the Royal Air Force. In his career he traveled from Swansea Wales, to Weston-Super Mare, England, to St. Annes, England, to Yatton, England, Backwell, England, South Bend, Indiana, and to his home in Edwardsburg, Michigan.
He retired from Bendix, currently Honeywell, as an engineer. Throughout his engineering career he held more than 100 patents in his name. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking, playing the guitar and repairing old British cars. Alistair loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Alistair is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beryl; their children, Paul (Samantha) Taig Ashford, Kent, Great Britain, Robert (Andy) Taig of Copacabana, Australia, Steve (Sue) Taig of Elkhart, and Jennifer Lantz of Goshen; grandchildren, Taylor Lantz, Kenny Taig, John Taig, Tom Taig, Christopher Taig, Nicholas Taig and Emma Taig. Alistair was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ian and Tommy Taig.
In keeping with Alistair's wishes, all services will be private. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the Taig family. Online condolences may be made to the Taig family at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com

Alistair was a wonderful neighbor, friend and mentor beginning in 1986 when we both moved to High Street on Eagle Lake. My sincerest condolences to Beryl and the rest of the family.

He was one of a kind, not only brilliant, but humble, giving, high morals and values and funny. When I was young, at bedtime, every night he would come and sit on the end of my bed and play guitar and we would sing some crazy songs. Those memories and many many more will always keep him alive in our hearts. We love you dad.

I loved Alistair! Every time I played the Beatles songs for him at Hubbard Hill, he sang every word. When I played for him on the day before his last fall, he turned toward me and was singing. He will be missed but I'm glad that I can still play for Beryl.
