Allan Francis Derrickson of Middletown, DE, passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on November 29, 1950, Allan spent his childhood and educational years in the local area, attending Harrington schools and later pursuing further education at Delaware Technical Community College.
Allan honorably served in the National Guard, where his commitment to duty was evident in his service to both the community and the country. After his military service, he followed his passion for horses, building a respected career as a horse trainer for racehorses, a profession that allowed him to share his deep love for these majestic animals.
Known for his warm, friendly, and humorous personality, Allan was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was an active member of the Middletown Senior Center, where he brought joy to many as a bingo caller. Allan's love for Scrabble and his daily engagement with lottery numbers were among the simple pleasures that brought a smile to his face and to those around him.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Derrickson, his brother Michael Derrickson, and his cousin William Roger Moore.
He is survived by his nieces Jessica Allen, Madeline Allen; nephews Ronny McCoy and Chace Allen; great-nephew Alafia Serrao ; great-niece Mila Serrao & Athena Allen; cousins Linda Coverdale (Sister as he called her), and William and Kimberly Stubbs.
