Gallagher, Allan Patrick "Altron"
FONDA - Allan Patrick "Altron" Gallagher, of Fonda, N.Y., passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, after a long illness. With the unwavering support of his husband and true love of 41 years, David Gurga, by his side, Allan waged a lengthy battle against Leukemia.
Born in Kingston, N.Y., Allan was predeceased by his mother, Margaret "Mombo" (Rice) Gallagher; and is survived by his father, Thomas "Tombo" Gallagher.
Allan graduated from Kingston High School, where he was crowned May King. He graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, and a Master's in Fine Arts.

Allan's passions included painting, creating mixed media sculptures, throwing pottery, and creating custom furniture designs. Allan was a member of the Dark Artist's Guild and also exhibited his work at the Sagamore Hotel, Ann Lee Art Exhibitions, and at Windows to the Garden. Allan's work was collected by many celebrities, including Sigourney Weaver, Natalie Merchant, and Heart.
Allan enjoyed tending his flowerbeds and building rock walls at his home. As a young man, Allan enjoyed swimming and waterskiing in the Hudson River near Kingston Point. In later years, Allan spent many happy hours in his backyard pool. Allan is survived by his husband, David Gurga, his siblings Danny "Buet" (Tama) Gallagher, Shirley "Shirltron" (Val) Galm, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his lifelong friend, Lisa Gruber.
