Allan Hale

Allan Hale passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, after a short illness. A celebration of Allan's life will be on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas. A visitation will be held before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.

Allan was born on Tuesday, February 10, 1953, in Rotan, Texas, to Cecil and Violet Hale. He grew up in Roby, Texas, and attended school there until the summer of 1970 when he moved with his family to San Saba.

Growing up in Roby, he participated in Little League, always playing catcher for his team. Starting in 7th grade and continuing into high school he played football for the Roby Lions. When he was 11 years old he was watching American Bandstand one Saturday morning and he saw a man playing a base guitar. He was amazed and decided he wanted to learn how to play. He quietly saved his money, bought one, and taught himself to play. From then on he was a "book of knowledge" about all things music, song lyrics, bands, band members, albums, concerts, etc. And he became an excellent base player. Roby was a very small town and he was friends with everyone. Those friendships were still a part of his life and he had recently reconnected with many of his Roby friends.

When he moved to San Saba he began working with his Dad as a carpenter. He learned the trade quickly and because he was such a perfectionist, he became a master at the trade. They worked for people in San Saba and surrounding communities remodeling houses and building them from the ground up. His younger brother, Pat, joined the team in 1985. After the passing of their Dad, Allan and Pat continued to work as a team. They enjoyed going to work every day. When you saw one of them you knew the other one wasn't far behind. Allan enjoyed their morning stops at the lumber yard and the comradery with all the others that were there daily. He made lifelong friendships with the people they worked for and so many were repeat customers – only wanting Allan and Pat to do their remodel work. Allan was always so proud of the work they did for people.

In 1990 Allan met the love of his life, Connie Lackey. They began dating and then married in 1997. Allan became a step-dad to her 3 boys, Michael, Neil, and Ryan. He and Connie had a son together, Allan Patrick. Allan started attending all the school sports events for the boys and was always a proud Dad. When the grandkids came along, he loved being called "Poppy".

Allan made friends easily and he had a long list of San Saba friends. If you were ever his friend, then he considered you a friend for life. Allan was not only a master carpenter; he was also a really good mechanic. He loved tinkering with his vehicles and always took great care of them. He was a pretty good cook and he enjoyed all kinds of food, not to mention he had a great love for sweet tea. He drank sweet tea from daylight until dark. His love for music continued all through his life. He attended many, many music concerts and listened to music daily. He loved talking and visiting with people and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who didn't like him.

Allan will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him and loved him. He was definitely one of the good guys and touched many lives.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Hale and Violet Bates Hale.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son Allan Patrick Hale and girlfriend Hunter Glisson-Warner of Waller, Texas; step-sons Michael Ward and wife Sabra, of San Saba; Neil Ward of San Saba, Ryan Ward and fiancé Saira Gueilen of Midland; daughter Deenah Tompkins and husband Scotty of North Richland Hills; granddaughter Caylor Tompkins; step-grandchildren Wyatt, Corbin, Paisley Ward of San Saba; Siblings Patrick Hale of San Saba; Vivian Heffernan and husband Lonnie of Sweetwater, Texas; Rita Spinks and husband Steve of San Saba; nieces Kelly Ashford and husband David; Tyler Hale; nephews Shane Heffernan and wife Beth; Kris Higginbotham and wife Jennifer, Rusty Higginbotham; step-mother Karen Hale of Abilene, Tx., along with a numerous relatives and friends.
