Allan Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Perry Chapel on Mar. 3, 2026.
Allan Charles Johnson, age 87, of Williamston, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – Perry Chapel, located at 214 S. Main St., Perry, Michigan 48872. A graveside service with burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Summit Cemetery, located at 4039 Beeman Rd., Williamston, Michigan 48895.

Allan was born on August 21, 1938, in Williamston, Michigan, to Berton and Erma Johnson. He attended Dansville High School through the eleventh grade and went on to dedicate his life to hard work and farming. On October 21, 1960, Allan married the love of his life, Geraldine, in Williamston. They shared many years together until her passing on December 11, 2017. Allan was a lifelong farm laborer. His family once owned a farm, and after that chapter closed, he continued working on area farms, milking cows and tending to the land he loved. He spent many years at Jorgensen's Dairy Farm in Webberville. Work was not just what Allan did; it was who he was. He took great pride in honest day's work and was known by all as a tireless, dependable worker.

In his spare time, Allan enjoyed woodworking and was especially skilled at building furniture and birdhouses. He was incredibly handy and could fix just about anything. He also collected toy tractors and was very proud of his collection, reflecting his love of farming. A devoted baseball fan, Allan enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers; he loved watching the ballgame on television and attended several games at Tiger Stadium before the team moved to Comerica Park. Though Allan could appear sour and gruff at first glance, those who knew him best understood that beneath his tough exterior was a soft heart and a sharp sense of humor. He loved his family deeply and showed his care in steady, practical ways through his work ethic, his reliability, and his quiet presence.

Allan is survived by his children, Marvin Johnson, Janette (Timothy) Ratza, Trina Newman, and Kelly Johnson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Neva Curtis and Jean Patton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Johnson; his parents, Berton and Erma Johnson; and his sister, Lois Berke.
