Allan was born in Watertown, WI on June 28, 1946 to Richard and Lorraine (Werner) Krumsee, and raised in West Milwaukee. He graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1964. In 1969, he married his teammate of his life, Patty (Panos) Krumsee. They moved to Wauwatosa in 1974 as Al completed his 5 year electrical apprenticeship. Years later he became a master electrician.
As a Master Electrician, Al wired countless buildings, dealerships, and bowling alleys in the Milwaukee area. His stellar work as an electrician for Milwaukee County Parks earned him the role of Director of Maintenance. He also generously shared his expertise with friends, neighbors, and relatives, performing "side jobs" out the back of one of his Chevy Suburbans (he owned several in succession), aptly naming his operation 'Suburban Electric.' Occasionally, he accepted payment, often in the form of bottles of beer. When Al oversaw the electrical work for the O'Donnell Parking Structure in downtown Milwaukee, his subordinate called it "the best lit parking structure that I've ever seen." Whether he was wiring a parking garage or fixing an outlet for his neighbor, Al lived by the motto "Be the job big or small, do it right or not at all."
Al was, by all accounts, a sports fanatic. In the summers of his youth, he was raised near the Milwaukee Braves at County Stadium, often biking there with his best friend Danny. With $1 his mother would give him, he could buy a ticket to the game, have a hot dog and a soda.
In March of 1977, Al witnessed history when he attended the NCAA championship basketball game to watch his (then) favorite team Marquette win it all. He frequently quoted John Wooden and shared colorful stories about the coaching prowess of Al McGuire. Al also has the distinguished achievement of attending Badger Football away games at all Big Ten University's, including two Rose Bowls.
Al found great joy in spending countless weekends camping with family and neighbors at Peninsula State Park and many national parks. These adventures were more than hobbies-they were time spent with curiosity, gratitude, and love.
Al's other adventures included many trips with Patty to Europe including a river cruise.
Though he had no prior knowledge of soccer, Al coached his son's youth team for seven years, guided by his natural instincts for nurturing children through sports. For a decade, he worked as a statistician for the Milwaukee Bucks, feeding stats to the radio broadcast team and earning the nickname "Abacus Al."
All was loved by his neighbors and friends. He never let his jovial nature preclude his delivery of acerbic commentary or a biting one-liner. He is survived by his wife Patty, his two children, Brian (Lindsay) Krumsee and Scott (Tiffany) Krumsee, and his grandchildren Leo, Sam, Georgia, Aristotle and Elwood.
The family would like to thank Kacey Farthing and Kim Smith for their dedication and good-humor during his hospice care, and Kim Giovannetti for supporting his health and wellness for many years.
A visitation will be held on Friday June 20, 2025 at the Becker Ritter Funeral Home from 5 PM until the time of Al's Memorial Service at 6 PM. Dinner will follow services. Memorials appreciated to the charity of your choice. Please wear your favorite sports apparel in honor of Allan.
Rest easy, Dad. The game's never truly over when you're still watching.
